About the endorsement process and dual endorsements:

In 2024 the Policy Council enacted a new policy, recommended by the Endorsement Committee, to allow dual endorsements for qualifying election campaigns. In the past, if 2 women candidates ran against each other in a primary, the Caucus did not endorse either candidate, missing an opportunity for the Caucus to publicly affirm that these candidates stand for our values: Pro-Choice, Pro-Equality, and supportive of improved access to Child Care. The previous policy often meant that the Caucus did not endorse any Pro-Choice candidate in districts “safe” for Pro-Choice candidates, especially in North County where there are often more than one Pro-Choice candidates running in the same race.

This new policy will be reviewed in the following calendar year for improvements.

Endorsement affirms shared values. It does not ensure financial support.

Financial support is determined by the Board of the Eastern Missouri Political Action Committee (EMPAC) and candidates who receive endorsement are eligible for consideration by the EMPAC Board.

NWPC-STL endorses women candidates in the
St. Louis region who represent our core issues.

Candidates who identify as women who are running for state-wide office or in areas of Missouri without a local chapter should visit MOWPC.org to apply for endorsement. Candidates running for Federal office should apply for endorsement at NWPC.org.

NWPC-STL is non-partisan organization that seeks to endorse qualified women candidates from multiple parties for primary elections
and a single candidate for each position in general elections.

All Saint Louis area candidates who identify as women may apply. Should there be a situation where more than one qualified woman candidate
seeks endorsement for the same seat, the Endorsement committee reserves the right to endorse one, none, or all of the candidates,
whether they are a previously endorsed candidate and/or incumbent.

Previously endorsed, incumbent candidates running for the same office:
please complete the Incumbent Questionnaire. Deadline to apply: Sunday, August 11.

New candidates or previously-endorsed candidates running for new office: please complete the Regular Candidate Questionnaire. Deadline to apply: Sunday, August 11.

Mentorship

The Caucus offers approximately 5 mentorships each year to women running for office for the first time.

To qualify for a mentorship you must share the values of the Caucus and complete a January/February Training Institute workshop. At the end of the training workshop, attendees will be invited to apply for a mentorship. There is no financial support to candidates within the mentorship program.

Membership to the Caucus not required.

Friends of the Caucus

Women candidates running for election to municipal office in April elections may apply for Friends of the Caucus recognition. Friends of the Caucus status does not include financial support from the Caucus. Deadline to apply: Feb 22, 2024.
